When Johnny Goes Marching Home
making of the shooting videosWhen Johnny Goes Marching Home were recorded using a special "high-speed" video camera, recording twenty-thousand frames a second. The video, accompanied by Neil Young's music composed for the movie "Dead Man" (hence the name in the title, inspired by Johnny Depp, the star of the movie), presents various fruits and vegetables as they are being smashed to a thousand pieces just after a bullet hit. Thus the technology used presents micro events otherwise hidden before the human eye: the slightly blurred slow motion black and white scenes reminds viewers to earlier scenes shot in different environments: undersea or on the surface of the Moon.
